Note: This is an extended version of the 771-word column I wrote for the Star-Herald on February 17, 2016. My columns at the newspaper were limited to 800 words. I didn’t have the chance to write exactly what I wanted at the time and each time I tell the story, people want more details. This is the full version I wanted to write then and finally had the time to sit down and complete.

Paul’s mushroom pizza. There is no way I would eat anything with those toppings. Paul said it was tasty and looked like a forest on top of his pizza.
The Flyover Brewing Company opened a little more than a month ago and people in town have been raving about how good their beer is. They also claim the pizza is delicious and everyone should eat there.
A couple of friends visited the first week they were open and raved about the beer. They wanted to try the chicken wings, but the business had run out of them. I frowned at that comment. How do you run out of chicken wings when wings and pizza is all your business sells. Still, I figured I’d give them a try. This pizza was supposed to be so tasty that even I, the great pizza snob, would like it.
After spending six hours going through my photos of food, cropping them down to manageable sizes and putting cutlines on each one, I realized I ate a lot of stuff in Hong Kong and Macau. Some of it, I wish I had with me right now so I could eat more. Some of it, I’m glad I tried it, but never again.
Vacations are a time to learn, have new adventures, and see what the world has to offer. Whenever I go on vacation, I look at the different types of foods I can try, but I also like to see what kind of snacks people eat in their part of the world. Here is a selection of things I found.
