In today’s world, we need some distractions from it in order to stay sane. Here are a few videos I think are well worth your time. They are fun, informative, and might make you smile.

YouTube sometimes forces you to go to their site to watch videos, so I’ve provided the links in case that happens.

Watch Alex Albon & Carlos Sainz embrace the true spirit of Sydney while handling a massive python near the iconic harbour bridge .

Formula One drivers Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz get to handle some cool animals native to Australia. The Australian Grand Prix opened the 2025 F1 season last weekend and this video made me smile and laugh quite a few times. It was funny how scared Carlos is of the reptiles. If it had been me, I’d be holding and playing with each one of them.

Seth Andrews of The Thinking Atheist spoke on March 6, 2025, to the folks from SecularAZ in front of the Arizona State Capitol.

Seth presented a speech about the Founding Fathers and who they were as compared to the religious zealots who firmly believe without evidence we are a christian nation. His speech covers everything I’ve been thinking about writing. He’s much better than me at keeping swear words out of things.

I really enjoy the Behind the Bastards podcast. In a recent two-part episode, they talked about Versailles. “In honor of the American oligarchs trying to form their own aristocracy, Robert and Ed Zitron look back at the court of Versailles, how it was formed as a sort of frat house pentagon that broke the brains of every subsequent generation of French nobles.”

Part 1

Part 2

I was actually sad when this two-parter was over. It was entertaining and informative, and sometimes a bit crass. It was all worth it. I’m actually thinking about loading the mp3 from the podcast into my mp3 player and taking it with me on the plane this weekend.

This last video is for all of you who had to learn to play a recorder in elementary school. You’re welcome.

I am working on a few other things, including some stories and a few columns that may or may not be political. Yeah, they’re probably going to be political. I had to take a week-long break from writing due to my mom getting really sick in the nursing home and nearly dying. She’s resting in the hospital now, but it’s been a hell of a week. I’ve been on the phone a lot and we all know how much I hate telephones.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy these videos and can take some time out of your day for some well-deserved smiles.
