Sophie Scholl

March is Women’s History Month and I’m writing about a woman a day all month long to highlight some of the women I have found inspirational in my life.

We all like to think when dangers arrives we will stand up and do the right thing. Most of us will never be tested in dangerous situations where our lives are at stake, but Sophie Scholl, a 21 year old student at the University of Munich, was and stood up for what she thought was right.

I can’t look back in anger

On the edge of the day

Today wasn’t a good day. It began somewhere around 3 a.m., but I honestly don’t know what time it was. The first time I was aware of the time, the clock read 3:15 a.m., Tuesday morning.

A box of confidence

Confidence. A belief in oneself. The idea that you have the ability to meet the challenges of life and succeed. Realistically knowing your capabilities and feeling secure with the knowledge of what you can achieve. It is something I still struggle with today.

At the edge

The old things

Broken windmill

A long time ago, I broke a guy’s heart. This is part of that story.

The force has always been with me

About a week or so before my seventh birthday, my family climbed into my grandma’s gold station wagon. We were headed out to the Fair Oaks Drive-In to see this new movie everyone was talking about. It had opened on May 25, 1977, but this was the first time my mom could take us all.

It crushes me

I received some bad news yesterday and it crushed me.

The news probably isn’t the end of the world and in the grand scheme of things never will be, but it hit me so deep that I didn’t know any other way to react. I didn’t even feel it coming on. There was the news. Then….it just crushed me.
