\/><\/a>\n<p><strong>Storyteller<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They tell me I&#8217;m good at telling stories<br \/>\nbut they don&#8217;t want to hear mine<br \/>\nit&#8217;s too dark<br \/>\nit&#8217;s too sad<br \/>\nit&#8217;s too scary<br \/>\nand they don&#8217;t want to think about it<\/p>\n<p>They want me to tell them stories<br \/>\nbut accounts need to be happy<br \/>\ntales need to be funny<br \/>\na narrative which can be shared<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTell me another story about your grandma,\u201d they say.<br \/>\nThose are fun<br \/>\nthose are nice<br \/>\nthose make me think of my family<br \/>\nand not anything sad<\/p>\n<p>They don&#8217;t want to hear my stories<br \/>\nof violence and anguish<br \/>\nthey don&#8217;t want to hear my stories<br \/>\nof loneliness and torment<br \/>\nThey don&#8217;t want to hear my stories<br \/>\nunless there&#8217;s a smile at the end<\/p>\n<p>No one wants to hear descriptions<br \/>\nof potential snatched away<br \/>\nor chronicles of terror and screams,<br \/>\nsuffering and tears<\/p>\n<p>keep those stories to yourself<br \/>\nthat&#8217;s for you to figure out<br \/>\nshoulders to cry on are rescinded<br \/>\nit&#8217;s too much for them to endure<\/p>\n<p>I write my stories down on paper<br \/>\nfor no one else to view<br \/>\nEveryone says they want to read them<br \/>\nbut no one ever does<\/p>\n<p>They say they want me to share my stories<br \/>\nbut as soon as I open my mouth<br \/>\nthe topic gets changed<br \/>\nkeep that to yourself<\/p>\n<p>Tears stain the paper as I go<br \/>\nmemories I don&#8217;t want in my head<br \/>\ntransferred to dead trees<br \/>\nbut the visions live on just for me<\/p>\n<p>They don&#8217;t want to hear my stories<br \/>\nof brutality and struggle<br \/>\nThey don&#8217;t want to hear my stories<br \/>\nof solitude and sorrow<br \/>\nThey don&#8217;t want to hear my stories<br \/>\nunless there&#8217;s a smile at the end<\/p>\n<p>No one wants to hear<br \/>\nstories with terror, screams, and wails<br \/>\nof potential snatched away<br \/>\nor lamentations of what could have been<\/p>\n<p>keep those stories to yourself<br \/>\nthat&#8217;s for you to figure out<br \/>\nshoulders to cry on are retracted<br \/>\nit&#8217;s too much for them to bear<br \/>\nweeping should be kept solitary<\/p>\n<p>Asleep or awake<br \/>\nmy stories are continually shared<br \/>\nonly with myself.<br \/>\nEveryone says I&#8217;m a good storyteller<br \/>\nbut joy is all they want to hear<br \/>\nThere is no desire to receive my speech<\/p>\n<p>Their reticence serves to placate themselves<br \/>\npat themselves on the back<br \/>\nwith empty platitudes<br \/>\nthinking they provided guidance<br \/>\nand good deeds<br \/>\nwhile I process the images alone<\/p>\n<p>I sit alone at home<br \/>\nputting horror and repugnance into words.<br \/>\nWith my little blue book and black ink<br \/>\nI detail my stories<br \/>\nthat no one will ever read<\/p>\n<p>They don&#8217;t want to hear my stories<br \/>\nof trying to pick myself up again<br \/>\nThey don&#8217;t want to hear my stories<br \/>\nunless it&#8217;s tied up neatly with a bow<br \/>\nThey
